I earned a bachelor of science in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Richmond; before I attended law school I worked as a licensed broker for Merrill Lynch. This experience equips me with unique insight into property matters.
My legal career has been exclusively dedicated to the practice of family law. In law school I spent multiple semesters in the school's family law clinic and clerked for the Hon. Robert Hinojosa in the 312th District Court, a family court in Harris County. During that clerkship I observed court proceedings daily and discussed and assisted on various proceedings in the judge’s chambers.
I continued to build on my knowledge of family law as a law clerk and attorney at Nichols Law, PLLC, where I worked for the esteemed John F. Nichols, Sr. There I handled various family law issues, civil matters and appeals, and worked on an often-cited appellate opinion on informal (common law) marriage. I continued to work at Nichols Law after graduating law school and passing the bar. I later worked for Chris A. Spofford, where I continued to grow in depth and breadth of knowledge under his mentorship.
I joined my current firm, Skillern Firm PLLC, in 2013. I continue to remain exclusively committed to the practice of family law and enjoy each day of what I get to do.
I was Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2017.
